Legal Notice Pursuant To Section 60.075 of the Texas Water Code

Pursuant to adoption of an Ordinance by the Board of the Sabine Neches Navigation District at its April 13, 2021 meeting, Effective May 1, 2021, the following ordinance will be enforced.

SABINE-NECHES WATERWAY:
Improvement Project of National Significance
The Sabine-Neches Waterway is America’s energy gateway. It is home to numerous manufacturing, refining and petrochemical companies and links to an extensive energy pipeline system, which connects to nearly every state in the country.

The waterway is vital for America’s military deployment and critical to the nation’s security domestically and abroad.

Fueling the Nation

Current operations of the waterway and industry-related sectors supported by the Sabine-Neches Waterway annually generate in the United States:
• $40 billion in gross product
• $23 billion in personal income
• $4.2 billion in federal taxes
• Nearly 375,000 permanent jobs

Maintaining the Momentum

The waterway has not been improved since 1962 – more than 50 years ago. We must invest now to ensure this American asset maintains its momentum and the United States continues to enjoy the benefits.

Deepening the Waterway from 40 to 48 feet will increase transportation efficiencies, thereby:
1 Meeting America’s growing needs with larger ships
2 Continuing to attract new growth and development for the nation
3 Maximizing throughput capacity, speed, and efficiency of military deployment

The project would create thousands of jobs, generate billions of dollars in economic impact, enhance trade infrastructure, and position the U.S. to compete in the global marketplace.

THE WATERWAY

The lifeline that drives the economies of Southeast Texas
